It's no secret that I am in love with Idylwilde. I have been going there since I was a kid. I came home from college on the weekends just to go there and grab a box of fresh produce and goodies to eat after an exhausting night of kegstands. As an adult, I found every opportunity to write about it. I dreamed of the day when I could shop there on a regular basis, and my friends -- that day has come.
Now that I work right around the corner and earn a steady paycheck, I have every excuse to pop in a couple times a month for a short list of items. And it feels divine.
The experience comes at a price. It is going to cost you more than Market Basket, but you won't leave there feeling like you just slept with a dirty man. So there's that.
But more importantly, the food is nourishing and gorgeous and fresh. It's a shopping experience like no other.
The best feeling in the world is depositing a box of Idylwilde goodies on the counter. Sometimes I sigh and stare for a bit before putting things away. And then...
So here it is. It's like opening up the inside of my soul for you. The contents of my refrigerator on the best of days. Maybe someday I will show you the 'before' picture.
From left to right:
TOP SHELF: non-fat cottage cheese with chives, port wine spread, sugar-free jello*, Greek yogurt, light sour cream, pesto and yogurts
MIDDLE SHELF: Various breads and deli meats in tupperware, cukes, wedge o' parmesan, bowl of eggs**, baby spinach, strawberries and tomatos
IN DRAWER: Feta, herbs, potato gnocchi***, lite mexican cheese, laughing cow chipotle wedges
BOTTOM SHELF: dressings, ground flax, bag o carrots, milk, almond milk
DRAWERS: fresh veggies on left, potatos, onions, shallots, ginger and sweet potatoes on right
* got them at BJs because the kids begged. And they hate them. Because "they have no sugar."

** Don't hate. It makes baking and omelet-making easier to have the eggs ready to grab.
*** Do you keep these on hand? Such an easy dinner when you are otherwise screwed -- toss the boiled gnocchi with baby spinach, a bit of butter and grate some fresh parmesan and sprinkle with fresh-ground pepper. Family favorite around here.
I showed you mine. Now show me yours. Go to Confessions of a Curvy Girl on Facebook and post your fridge pic on our wall.
I dare you.
My fridge has whipped cream and cheese only.
ReplyDeleteMarket Basket DOES = sex with dirty man
I'll be honest. This does excite me. I'll share my porn on Saturday (after I make my visit)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support!
ReplyDeleteMy fridge is usually empty...I have been eating more veggies though. Sweet potatoes, brocc, green beans and have been making low fat meals. You ladies have inspired me. I am trying but I still feel bloated, why? If I had a sexy fridge photo I'd share but I'm still feeling shy...maybe I can work myself up to a full frontal some day.
